Northport native
Lauren Doherty was crowned Miss Culture USA 2018 on Sunday, June 4, at the
official National Preliminary Pageant in Wayne, New Jersey.
Doherty will go on
to represent the United States of America at the Miss Culture Worldwide 2018
competition. The pageant will be held in December in Johannesburg, South
Africa. Doherty will use her title to promote her platform, which is child
advocacy.
The message she
hopes to spread worldwide is to encourage young children and teens to embrace
their uniqueness and not conform to other’s opinions. Doherty recently
graduated from LIU Post with a BS in Childhood Education and concentration in
Psychology. She looks to become an elementary school teacher and have a
positive impact on young children.
