The 67th Miss Universe pageant will have a new format this year in selecting the winner.
New Format:
1. Top 20 will be selected from 94 entrants based in the scores of preliminary judging of swimsuit, gown and interview. The Continental format is back for the second year. In 2017, there are only 4 girls in each group, this time it will be 5 per group. Groupings are:
A. Americas (combined North and South America)
B. Europe
C. Africa and Asia Pacific
D. Wildcard
2. All Top 20 will have an opening statement and Top 10 will be announced.
3. All Top 10 will do the swimsuit and evening gown competition. After that, Top 5 will be determined.
4. Top 5 Finalists will have the usual question and answer segment. Then, the final 3 will be declared.
5. The last 3 girls standing will be asked one question. Final look will follow.
6. The winner of Miss Universe 2018 will be crowned.
The coronation is scheduled on December 17, 2018 7am in Impact, Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok, Thailand. The incumbent winner is Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa.
