African Khaleesi, a South African-based new pageant is now opening its doors for aspiring queens.
The official announcement:
A lot of pageants are known to have a one day pageant which consists of the crowning ceremony and giving one or two girls a sash and crown. That's it.
African Khaleesi is the latest pageant to hit the pageantry scene with a bang! It's a pageant with a twist. A pageant with longevity. It's a virtual Pageant, meaning all the required activities will happen online as well as the judging system.
We are a pageant that's all about challenging the status Quo. Redefining Pageantry. We don't want to be here the one day and gone the next.
We don't just focus on one girl but all of our contestants equally. All the girls who enter the pageant will not leave empty handed. They'll leave with practical skills. We want females to go out there and make a change. Not as "a nobody" but they'll have the backing and platform of the pageant. We'll encourage them. Give them skills like public speaking. Confidence. Resilience. Etc.
No body knows their community like someone who lives in that very community so one of the challenges will include the girls going into their communities and being the change they want to see. They should try change issues they see in their own community for the better. There will be many more fun and exciting and educational challenges throughout the pageant.
We want to embody the spirit of fixing each other's Crowns. We want to build a strong sisterhood.
Additionally, we are all about inclusivity, we understand that money is a problem for some people. So to be fair we going to be hosting all of our activities online. This will ensure transparency and fairness.
We are going to conduct the judging with a score system. The top 14 girls who scored the highest will move on to the live crowning to battle it out for the crown in front of an audience and expert judges. But that's just the cherry on top of the cake!
The main objective is to give females the opportunity to make a difference in their community and their lives. We don't want to be just another pageant that gives out a crown and a sash and move on without teaching the girls anything.
All the girls who wish to enter must submit an entry form (which will be made available on our website closer to the entry date) with two of their best pictures. All the rules as well as the terms and conditions will be made available on the entry form. Should you be chosen for the pageant, you'll be contacted via email.
