Taahirah Zungu, 15, the 2015 Miss Teen Universe South Africa, is a young model born in Mahikeng, North West, South Africa and a current Grade 11 student in Sol Plaatjie Secondary School.
Last November
28, 2014 she was crowned Queen of Mahikeng held in Mmabatho Civic Centre.
Taahirah was the 1st ambassador after the Re-Establishment of Queen of Mahikeng.
In 2015, the organisation with the support from the Department of Arts, Culture
and Traditional Affairs including brands like Pick N Pay, Bokone West, Mmabatho
Police Station, Protea Hotel supported her as she was going to represent the Region
for Miss Petite Teen South Africa which was a part of her package for being
Queen of Mahikeng and she made it to Top 5 in the said event. After handling
over the Queen of Mahikeng title to her successor Kopano Seriba, Taahirah was
awarded with the Miss Teen Universe South Africa title as the directors of Queen
of Mahikeng has signed the franchise of Teen Universe International Pageant in
South Africa.
The 2016 Miss Teen Universe will be held
in San Jose, Costa Rica from February 23-29. There are 26 candidates in this pageant
including Taahirah. The current winner is Dayanara Peralta Loor of Ecuador.
In a few days, Taahirah will be heading
towards competing with other young ladies from around the world for the title
of 2016 Miss Teen Universe. She will be traveling along with her supportive mother
Jackie and the Teen Universe South Africa National Director Mr. Phemelo
Mhlanga. This trip was made possible by the Department of Arts, Culture and
Traditional Affairs in the North West Province. Taahirah has indeed been a true
ambassador and has proven that indeed it's not just about being a pretty face.
