The winner of
the Best National Costume is candidate 22, Chanel Olive Thomas from San
Antonio, Nueva Ecija. Edwin Uy designed the winning piece of art.
It is not
clear at this time, if this will be the official costume in the 2017 Miss
Universe contest or in the 2017 Miss Supranational contest, since Chanel Olive
Thomas also won the 2017 Binibining Pilipinas Supranational crown.
The National
Costume competition was held on April 24, 2017 in the Penthouse of Gateway
Tower, Cubao, Quezon City. The Top 10 Finalists were announced out of the 40 candidates and the winner was
voted by the public through a “Facebook highest likes”, in which the candidate’s
photo with the most number of “likes” will win. The voting period lasted on
April 28 and during the coronation night, last April 30 in Araneta Coliseum,
the winner of the special award was announced.
