There have been some remarkable controversy for the two brothers, born in Haiti, being adopted by an Italian family, now with Italian citizenship, who participated and won a sash for the two most prestigious beauty contests in Italy Miss Italia and Mister Italia.
Their participation in the two beauty contests has been heavily criticized and contested on social network as well as in some newspapers by extreme right, racist xenophobic organizations and Ku Klux Klan sympathizer. Annamaria and Olivier, have been in Italy from 13 years and they have been Italian citizenship. Annamaria Borgobello, aged 22, graduated as a "social services technician", currently works as a bartender in Udine. Annamaria in the last few days has won the sash of Miss Italia Alpitour. Olivier Borgobello, Annamaria's younger brother, 19 years old, has a "mechanical maintainer" diploma, currently working in the truck company. Olivier participated in a selection of Mister Italia in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD) and won a sash of Boy Italia, title connected with Mister Italia. In 1996 Denny Mendez, a girl from the Dominican Republic, won the title of Miss Italy. Even then there were many controversies.
