During the pre-activities of Miss Culture International 2019, the delegates were amused by the Ilog River Cruise in the Philippines.
Candidates of the first ever Miss Culture International were invited by the Municipality of Ilog, Province of Negros Occidental, Philippines. Delighted entrants engaged in an eco-tourism activity which is the river cruise.
The Balsa River Cruise Native Floating Restaurant is the newest tourist destination in Southern Negros. It is the first river cruise in the province, cruising along its longest river, Ilog-Hilabanaan River. It starts from Malabong Bridge going towards the river mouth in 4.5 kilometer long cruise. The floating restaurant called, "Balsa" has 60 seats with a speed of 3 knots which is approximately an hour and a half boat ride.
MCI group were amazed by the local food served which includes crabs, lechon, native delicacies and other seafoods. There was also a live band in which candidates rendered their singing talent while others accorded dance moves.
Balsa River Cruise provides scenic view by the river and promotes wildlife conservation through bird watching. It amply gives sustainable and eco-friendly attraction to open doors of opportunity for the tourism of the Municipality of Ilog.
The Municipality of Ilog has a street dance festival named Kisi-Kisi Festival. It is celebrated every 25th of March which also honors the Señor Santo Niño as their patron saint. "Kisi-kisi" is a Hiligaynon word meaning the fast movement of fish and other sea or river creatures. Some of the participants in the Kisi-Kisi Festival furnished their cultural festivity during the mid-day activity of Miss Culture International 2019.
Lastly, the word "Ilog" literally means "River."
