Ms. USA Culture Galaxy Sonya with the National Council of Negro Women in Portsmouth



Our reigning queen, Sonya Z. Phillips recently attended the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) to discuss new insights and future developments.

Sonya Z. Phillips, Ms. USA Culture Galaxy 2019 had an empowered afternoon with her National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Sisters while attending the NCNW Presidential Coalition Meeting at Roger Brown's Restaurant and Sports Bar in Portsmouth, Virginia.  She was there representing NCNW ROSES along side her NCNW President Jan House and Vice President Avanti Allen-Benson representing NCNW Norfolk.  Even the Old Dominion University NCNW President Ms. Sasha Marshall was in attendance.  There were Presidents there from other parts of Hampton Roads such as Doreen Larkin of the NCNW Tidewater Section and Northern Virginia Sections including Cypriana McCray of the NCNW Reston-Dulles & Maria Barnes of the NCNW Stafford Fredericksburg Section.

The NCNW Norfolk Section meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month, September-June in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.  NCNW ROSES (Reaching Opportunities by Sisters Empowering Sisters) is the youth component of NCNW Norfolk. 

Sonya Z. Phillips is also a Fashion Designer for Stretch Couture and NCNW ROSES Youth Program Coordinator.
