Carlo Jhay Pilar from Sta. Cruz, Marinduque is vying for the title 2020 Hari ng Filipinas.
Carlo Jhay stands 5'11" and he is 19 years old. His passion as a Grade 12 Student is Mathematics and Dancing.
He narrates, "Growing up from a broken family, I was not able to experience the moral and financial support that a child should have. Given this, I advocate for accessible education for all by supporting them. As a member of Marinduque's The Street Classroom (a non-profit organization), my aim is to help those who were like me. To share resources, academic tutorials and moral support to those who are having challenges going to school. In the heart of the Philippines, there were three major challenges a child may face in education - financial or physical inabilities, geographic location and lack of support. Hari ng Filipinas will empower me not just by winning a crown but through the publicity that my advocacy will reach. We bring the classroom to those who needs and deserves it. Through education, we can empower them with patriotism, with our rich hospitable culture and humble tourist traditions we can make the heart of the Philippines beat for the whole nation."
There are two winners of Hari ng Filipinas 2020, one will represent the Philippines in the fifth edition of Mister and Miss Culture World 2020 in June and the other one, will compete in the maiden edition of Man of the Earth in December. Both contests will take place in Vietnam. Hari ng Filipinas literally means King of the Philippines.
